The vehicle is equipped with an supplemental airbag system for the driver and front passenger.
The front airbags are designed to enhance the protection provided by the 3-point seat belts. For these airbags to be effective, occupants must always wear their seat belts while the vehicle is in motion.
In a collision, occupants who are not wearing seat belts are exposed to the risk of serious or even fatal injury. Airbags are designed to supplement seat belts, not replace them. Moreover, they are not designed to deploy in all collisions. In some crashes, the seat belt is the only device that can protect you.
WARNING
AIRBAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS ALWAYS wear seat belts and use child restraint systems on every trip and for every passenger! Even if your vehicle is equipped with airbags, you risk serious injury or death if you are not properly restrained or if you do not wear your seat belt when the airbags deploy.
NEVER place a child in a child restraint or booster seat on the front passenger seat. When the airbag deploys, it may strike the child or infant forcefully and result in serious injury or death.
Children under 13 years old must always be properly restrained in the rear seat. This is the safest place for children of all ages. If a child 13 years or older must sit in the front passenger seat, they must be properly restrained and the seat must be moved as far back as possible.
All vehicle occupants must sit properly with their backs upright, centered on the seat cushion, with seat belts fastened and legs comfortably extended and resting on the floor while the vehicle is stopped with the engine off. If an occupant is seated improperly during a collision, rapid deployment of the airbags may strike them forcefully and result in serious injury or death.
You and your passengers must never sit or lean too close to the airbags, whether in the door or the center console. Move your seat as far back as possible from the airbags while still remaining within reach of the vehicle controls.
