SRS Airbag System Maintenance

~1min read

The SRS system requires virtually no maintenance and has no parts that you can service yourself without risk. If the SRS airbag warning light does not come on when the ignition is turned on, or stays on continuously, we advise you to have the system checked immediately by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

Any work on the SRS system, such as removal, installation, repair, or any other service on the steering wheel, front passenger panel, front seats, and roof rails, must be performed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. Improper handling of the SRS system may result in serious injury.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of serious injury or death, observe the following precautions:

  • Do not attempt to modify or disconnect any SRS components or wiring, do not attach emblems to the covers, and do not change their structure.
  • Do not place any objects on the steering wheel airbag modules, the dashboard, or the panel located above the glove box, or near these modules.
  • Clean airbag covers with a soft cloth dampened with clean water. Solvents or cleaning agents may damage the airbag covers or affect airbag deployment.
  • We recommend that you have airbags replaced by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer after they have deployed.
  • If airbag system components must be disassembled, or if the vehicle is to be scrapped, certain safety precautions must be observed. Contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer for the necessary information. Failure to observe these precautions may increase the risk of injury.
