Head Restraint
In this manual: Your Vehicle's Safety System
~1min read
The front and rear seats are equipped with adjustable head restraints. Head restraints make passengers more comfortable, but are primarily designed to help prevent whiplash or other neck and spine injuries in the event of a collision, especially a rear-end collision.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious injury or death in a collision, observe the following precautions when adjusting the head restraints:
- Always properly adjust the head restraints of all FRONT seats before starting the vehicle.
- NEVER allow a passenger to sit in a seat whose head restraint has been removed.
- Adjust the head restraints so that their center is level with the top of the eyes.
- NEVER adjust the driver's head restraint while the vehicle is moving.
- Adjust the head restraints as close to the passenger's head as possible. Do not use a seat cushion that pushes the body away from the seatback.
- After adjusting the head restraint, make sure it stays in place.
NOTICE
NEVER strike or pull on the head restraints, as you risk damaging them.
WARNING
If there are no passengers in the rear seats, lower these seats' head restraints as far as possible to improve rear visibility.
