SPEED CONTROL
The cruise control system is activated by the main switch. The cruise control "ON/OFF" switch is located on the right side of the steering column. The system is capable of controlling speed, coasting, acceleration and resume. It also has a fuse that is triggered when the brake is pressed or by the transmission shift lever. The ECM is the control module of this system. The main components of the cruise control system are the control switches, transmission range switch, brake switch, vehicle speed sensor, ECM and ETS motors, which connect the throttle body. The ECM has a lower speed limit that prevents the system from being activated below the minimum speed of 40 km/h. Operation of the controller is controlled by the control switches located on the steering wheel. The transmission range switch and the brake switch serve to disengage the speed control system. The switches are located on the brake pedal bracket and on the transmission. When the brake pedal is depressed or the transmission shift lever is activated, the speed control system is disengaged electrically, and the throttle valve returns to the idle position. Cruise Control Main Switch (ON/OFF) The speed control system is turned on by pressing the main speed control switch "ON/OFF". Pressing the main speed control switch "ON/OFF" again, releases the throttle, clears the stored speed and cancels the cruise control mode. SET/Coast Switch (SET/–) The "SET/–" switch, located on the right side of the steering column, has two functions. SET function - Press and release the "SET/–" switch at the desired speed. The SET indicator will illuminate on the instrument cluster. Release the accelerator pedal. The desired speed is maintained automatically. Coast function - Press and hold the "SET/–" switch when cruise control is activated. The vehicle slowly decelerates. Release the switch at the desired speed. The desired speed is stored. Press and quickly release the "SET/–" switch. The speed setting decreases by 2 km/h or 1 mph. RES/Accel Switch (RES/+) The "RES/+" switch, located on the right side of the steering column, has two functions. Resume function - If a method other than the main cruise control "ON/OFF" switch was used to cancel the speed control temporarily and the system is still active, the most recent set speed is automatically resumed when the "RES/+" switch is pressed. However, this will not occur if the vehicle speed has decreased below 40 km/h. Accel function - Press and hold the "RES/+" switch when cruise control is activated. The vehicle gradually accelerates. Release the switch at the desired speed. The desired speed is stored. Press and quickly release the "RES/+" switch. The speed setting increases by 2 km/h or 1 mph. CANCEL Switch Cruise control is temporarily deactivated by pressing the "CANCEL" switch. Cruise control canceled by this switch can be resumed with the "RES/+" switch.Test yourself
