Ignition Key

[A]: LOCK, [B]: ACC, [C]: ON, [D]: START
Whenever the front door is opened, the indicator will light up if the ignition switch is not in the ON position. The light turns off immediately when the ignition is turned on, or turns off approximately 30 seconds after the door is closed. (if equipped)
WARNING
- NEVER turn the ignition key to the LOCK or ACC position while the vehicle is in motion, except in an emergency.
- This will cause the engine to stop and power to the power steering and brake systems to be lost. This may result in loss of steering control and braking function, which may lead to an accident.
- Before leaving the driver's seat, always make sure the shift lever is in P (Park, for an automatic transmission vehicle), apply the parking brake, and turn the ignition key to the LOCK position. Unexpected vehicle movement may occur if these precautions are not followed.
NOTICE
Never use secondary key cylinder covers. This may cause a starting failure due to communication failure.

Starting the Engine
WARNING
- Always wear appropriate footwear when operating your vehicle. Inappropriate footwear, such as high heels, ski boots, sandals, slippers, etc., may interfere with your ability to operate the accelerator and/or brake pedal.
- Do not start the vehicle with the accelerator pedal depressed.
- Keep your foot on the brake when shifting from P (Park). Make sure the engine is idling before shifting. The vehicle may move suddenly when the brake pedal is released if the engine speed is high.
1. Make sure the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) is applied.
2. Make sure the shift lever is in P (Park).
3. Depress the brake pedal.
4. Turn the ignition key to the START position. Hold the key (for a maximum of 10 seconds) until the engine starts, then release it.
Information
- Do not wait for the engine to warm up while the vehicle is stationary. Start driving at moderate engine speed. (Avoid sudden acceleration while the engine is still cold.)
- Always start the vehicle with your foot on the brake pedal. Do not depress the accelerator when starting the vehicle. Do not run the engine during warm-up.
NOTICE
To avoid damage to the vehicle:
- Do not hold the ignition key in the START position for more than 10 seconds. Wait 5-10 seconds before trying again.
- Do not turn the ignition key to the START position while the engine is running. This may damage the starter.
- If traffic and road conditions permit, shift the shift lever to the N (Neutral) position while the vehicle is still moving, and turn the ignition switch to the START position to attempt to restart the engine.
- Do not push or tow the vehicle to start the engine.
