Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control Operation
Operating Conditions
Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control is ready for operation when all of the following conditions are met:
- Smart Cruise Control is operating
- Driving on Major Highways
Information
For more details on how to use Smart Cruise Control, refer to "Smart Cruise Control (SCC)" in chapter 7.

If temporary deceleration is required while in standby and Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control is operating, the green
indicator illuminates on the cluster.
If the Highway Auto Speed Control function is operating on a highway, the
indicator and the set speed illuminate in green on the cluster, and a warning chime sounds.
WARNING
The warning message "Drive Carefully" appears under the following circumstances:
- Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control is unable to slow your vehicle to a safe speed.
Information
Highway Curve Slowdown and Highway Auto Speed Control functions use the same
symbol.
Highway Curve Deceleration
- Depending on the curve ahead on the highway, the vehicle will slow down, and after passing the curve, the vehicle will accelerate to the Smart Cruise Control set speed.
- The braking timing of the vehicle may differ depending on the vehicle speed and the degree of the curve on the road. The higher the driving speed, the earlier deceleration will start.
Highway Automatic Speed Change
- The Highway Auto Speed Control function will operate when the Smart Cruise Control set speed and the highway speed limit are matched.
- During Highway Auto Speed Control operation, when the highway speed limit changes, the Smart Cruise Control set speed automatically changes to the changed speed limit.
- If the Smart Cruise Control set speed is set differently from the speed limit, the Highway Auto Speed Control function will be in standby mode.
- If the Highway Auto Speed Control function changes to standby mode while driving on a road other than a highway, the Highway Auto Speed Control function will operate again when you drive on a highway again without setting the set speed.
- If the Highway Auto Speed Control function changes to standby mode when the brake pedal is depressed or when pressing
steering wheel
switch, press the switch to restart the function. - The Highway Auto Speed Control function does not operate on highway exit or interchange ramps.
Information
- The Highway Auto Speed Control function operates only based on highway speed limits; it does not operate with speed camera information.
- When the Highway Auto Speed Control function is operating, the vehicle automatically accelerates or decelerates when the highway speed limit changes.
- The maximum set speed for the Highway Auto Speed Control function is 86 mph (140 km/h).
- If the speed limit of a new road has not been updated in the navigation, the Highway Auto Speed Change function may not operate properly.
- If the speed unit is set to a unit different from the speed unit used in your country, the Highway Auto Speed Change function may not operate properly.
