Safe Exit Warning Malfunction and Limitations

~2min read

When the Safe Exit Warning does not operate properly, the "Check Blind-Spot Safety" system warning message appears on the cluster for several seconds, and the Owner's () warning light illuminates on the cluster. If this occurs, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

When the Blind-Spot Collision Warning (Side Mirror Indicator) does not operate properly, the "Check Side Mirror Warning Light" message appears on the cluster for several seconds, and the warning light () on the instrument panel illuminates. In this case, have the vehicle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

When the rear bumper area around the rear corner radar or sensor is covered by foreign objects such as snow or rain, or when a trailer or carrier is installed, detection performance may decrease and the Safe Exit Warning may be temporarily limited or disabled.

In this case, the Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system is disabled. The "Radar Blockage" warning message appears on the cluster.

The Safe Exit Warning will operate properly when such foreign material or trailer, etc. is removed, and then the engine is restarted.

If the Safe Exit Warning does not operate properly after removal, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

WARNING

  • Even if the warning message does not appear on the cluster, the Safe Exit Warning may malfunction.
  • The Safe Exit Warning may not operate properly in areas (e.g., open terrain) where objects are present. It may not detect objects immediately after the engine is turned on, or if the sensor is blocked by foreign material immediately after the engine is turned on.

PLEDGE

Disable the Safe Exit Warning when installing or removing a trailer, luggage rack, or other attachment. Enable the Safe Exit Warning when finished.

Safe Exit Warning Limitations

The Safe Exit Warning may not operate properly, or it may operate unexpectedly, under the following circumstances:

  • Exiting the vehicle where trees or grass are overgrown
  • Exiting the vehicle where the road is wet
  • An approaching vehicle is moving very fast or very slowly

Information

For more detailed information on the rear corner radar limitations, refer to the "Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)" section in this chapter.

WARNING

  • The Safe Exit Warning may not operate properly if strong electromagnetic waves interfere.
  • The Safe Exit Warning may not operate for 3 seconds after the vehicle is started, or while the rear corner radar is initializing.
