Automatic Defogging System

~1min read

The automatic defogging system detects moisture to reduce the risk of windshield fogging.

It illuminates when the heater or air conditioner is turned on.

Information

The automatic defogging system may not operate properly when the outside air temperature is below -10°C.

The indicator illuminates when the automatic defogging system is turned on.

If the humidity level detected inside the vehicle is too high, the system operates in the following order:

Step 1: Activate fresh air intake
Step 2: Activate the air conditioner
Step 3: Direct air to the windshield
Step 4: Increase airflow to the windshield

If the air conditioner is turned off or recirculation is manually selected while automatic defogging is on, the system indicator flashes 3 times, showing that manual control has been canceled.

Canceling or resetting automatic defogging

Press the windshield defroster button for 3 seconds with the ignition in the ON position.

When the automatic defogging system is turned off, the ADS OFF symbol flashes 3 times at 0.5-second intervals, and the ADS OFF message is displayed on the climate screen.

When the system is reset, the ADS OFF symbol flashes 6 times without emitting a signal.

Information

  • If you try to turn off the air conditioner when it has been activated by the automatic anti-fog system, the indicator will flash 3 times and the air conditioner will not turn off.
  • For better efficiency, do not select the "Recirculation" mode while the automatic defog control system is on.

NOTICE

Do not remove the sensor cover located on the upper end of the windshield on the driver's side. This may cause damage to the system components that is not covered by the vehicle warranty.
