Folding the rear seat (if equipped)

The rear seatbacks can be folded down to make it easier to transport long objects or to increase the cargo space of the vehicle.

WARNING

The folding rear seatbacks are designed to allow longer items to be carried in the vehicle than would fit in the luggage compartment.

Never allow passengers to sit on the top of a folded seatback while the vehicle is in motion. This is not a proper seating position, and the seat belts cannot be fastened in this case.

This may result in serious injury or death in the event of a road traffic accident or sudden stop.

Items carried in the vehicle with the rear seatback folded must not be positioned higher than the top edge of the front seats. Otherwise, cargo may move forward and cause injury or damage in the event of a sudden stop.

6. Return the rear seat belt to its original position.

NOTE

If the seat belt does not extend from the retractor, press on the belt and the seatback at the same time. The belt will then extend freely.

WARNING

When returning the rear seatback to the upright position after folding, take care to avoid damaging the seat belt or its buckle. Do not allow the seat belt or its buckle to be pinched or trapped by the rear seat. Make sure the rear seatback is firmly locked in the upright position by pulling on its upper part. Otherwise, in a road traffic accident or sudden stop, the seat may fold forward and cargo may move from the luggage compartment into the passenger compartment, which may result in serious injury or death.

WARNING

- Returning the seatback to the upright position

When returning the seatback to the upright position, hold it and move it slowly. If the seatback is not held while returning it to its original position, it may move forward suddenly, striking nearby persons and causing injury.

Failure to observe these requirements may cause the vehicle to move if the shift lever is accidentally moved to another position. When loading or unloading luggage, always make sure the engine is off, the selector lever is in P (Park), and the vehicle is secured with the parking brake.

If this is not done and the selector lever is accidentally moved to any other position, the vehicle may begin to move unintentionally.
