Immobilizer (if equipped)
This vehicle is equipped with an electronic engine immobilizer system to reduce the risk of unauthorized use of the vehicle.
The immobilizer system consists of a compact transponder built into the ignition key and electronic control units installed inside the vehicle. When the key inserted in the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, the immobilizer system determines and verifies whether the ignition key is valid.
If the key is recognized as genuine, the engine will start.
If the key is not recognized as genuine, the engine will not start.
To activate the immobilizer:
Turn the key in the ignition switch to the OFF position. The immobilizer will activate automatically. Without a genuine ignition key for this vehicle, the engine will not start.
To deactivate the immobilizer:
Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ON position.
WARNING
To prevent vehicle theft, do not leave spare keys inside the vehicle. The immobilizer password is unique, is set by the user and must be kept secret. Do not leave a record of this number inside the vehicle.
NOTICE When starting the engine, do not keep other keys with a built-in immobilizer transponder near the ignition switch. Otherwise, the engine may not start or may stall shortly after starting. After purchasing a new vehicle, keep all keys in different places to avoid any malfunction.
The engine may not start, because metal objects can interfere with the signal transmitted by the transponder.
NOTICE If additional keys are needed, or if keys are lost, contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
