Immobilizer System
The immobilizer system protects your vehicle from theft. If an incorrectly coded key (or other device) is used, the engine fuel system is disabled. When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, the immobilizer system indicator should illuminate for a short time, then go off. If the indicator starts flashing, the system does not recognize the key code.
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK/OFF position, then turn the ignition switch back to the ON position.
The system may not recognize your key's code if another immobilizer key or another metal object (such as a key chain) is near the key. The engine may not start because metal can interfere with normal transmission of the transponder signal.
If the system repeatedly fails to recognize the key code, contact a HYUNDAI dealer.
Do not attempt to modify this system or add other devices to it. Electrical problems may cause your vehicle to malfunction.
WARNING
To prevent vehicle theft, do not leave spare keys anywhere in your vehicle. Your immobilizer password is a unique customer password and must be kept confidential.
CAUTION
The transponder in the ignition key is an important part of the immobilizer system. It is designed to operate trouble-free for many years; however, you must avoid exposure to moisture, static electricity and rough handling. The immobilizer system may malfunction.
