Reclining Seatback

~1min read

Sitting in a reclined position while the vehicle is moving can be dangerous. Even when buckled up, the protection of your restraint system (seat belts and airbags) is significantly reduced if the seatback is reclined.

WARNING

NEVER drive with the seatback reclined. Driving with the seatback reclined increases the risk of serious or fatal injury in a collision or sudden stop. Drivers and passengers must ALWAYS sit upright in their seats, be properly restrained by the seat belts, and have the seatbacks in the upright position.

For proper operation, seat belts must fit snugly across the hips and chest.

When the seatback is reclined, the shoulder belt cannot perform its function because it will not fit snugly against the chest. Instead, it will be in front of you. During an accident, you may slide under the belt, which may result in neck or other injuries.

The more the seatback is reclined, the greater the chance that the occupant's hips will slide under the lap belt, and the occupant's neck may strike the shoulder belt.

Seat Cushion Height (Driver's Seat)

To change the seat cushion height:

  • Pump the lever several times to lower the seat cushion.
  • Pump the lever up several times to raise the seat cushion.

Lumbar Support (for driver's seat, if equipped)

To adjust the lumbar support:

1. Press the front of the switch to increase support, or the rear of the switch to decrease support.

2. Release the switch as soon as it reaches the desired position.
