Follow the normal maintenance schedule if the vehicle is normally driven under none of the following conditions. If any of the following conditions apply, follow the Severe Usage maintenance schedule.
- Repeated driving short distances of less than 5 miles (8 km) in normal temperature or less than 10 miles (16 km) in sub-freezing temperature
- Extended engine idling or low-speed driving for long distances
- Driving on rough, dusty, muddy, unpaved, gravel, or salt-treated roads
- Driving in areas using salt or other corrosive materials, or in very cold weather
- Driving in severely dusty conditions
- Driving in heavy stop-and-go traffic
- Repeated driving on hilly, downhill or mountain roads
- Towing a trailer, using a camper, or using a roof rack
- Driving as a police car, taxi, or other commercial use or towing a trailer
- Driving at speeds over 106 mph (170 km/h)
- Frequent driving in stop-and-go conditions
If your vehicle is operated under the conditions above, you should check, replace or refill more often than the next normal maintenance schedule. After 120 months or 150,000 miles, continue to follow the prescribed maintenance intervals.
