If the Engine Does Not Start
If the engine does not crank or cranks slowly
1. If your vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission/dual clutch transmission, make sure the shift lever is in N (Neutral) or P (Park), and the parking brake is applied.
2. Check the battery terminals to make sure they are clean and tight.
3. Turn on the interior light. If the light dims or goes out while cranking the starter, the battery is discharged.
4. Check the starter connections to make sure they are securely tightened.
5. Do not push or tow the vehicle to start it. Refer to the "Jump Starting" instructions.
WARNING
If the engine does not start, do not push or tow the vehicle to start it. This may result in a collision or other damage. In addition, push or tow starting may overload the catalytic converter (if equipped) and create a risk of fire.
If the engine cranks normally but does not start
1. Check the fuel level.
2. With the ignition key in the LOCK/OFF position, check all connectors on the ignition coil and spark plugs. Reconnect anything that has been disconnected or loosened.
3. Inspect the fuel lines in the engine compartment.
4. If the engine still does not start, we recommend that you visit an authorized Kia dealer.
