WARNING - ENGINE EXHAUST CAN BE DANGEROUS!

Engine exhaust can be extremely dangerous. If you ever smell exhaust fumes inside the vehicle, open the windows immediately.

• Do not breathe exhaust gases.

Exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas that can cause loss of consciousness and death by asphyxiation.

• Make sure the exhaust system does not leak.

The exhaust system should be inspected whenever the vehicle is raised for oil change or for any other purpose. If you notice a change in exhaust sound or if you strike something that hits the underbody of the vehicle, we recommend having the system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

• Do not run the engine in an enclosed area.

Leaving the engine idling in a garage, even with the garage door open, is a dangerous practice. Never run the engine in a garage longer than necessary to start the engine and drive the vehicle out backward.

• Avoid prolonged engine idling if people are in the vehicle.

If prolonged engine idling is necessary with people in the vehicle, be sure to do so only in an open area with the air intake set to "Fresh" and the fan running at one of the higher speeds so that fresh air is drawn inside.

If you must drive with the rear door/tailgate open because you are carrying items that make this necessary:
1. Close all windows.
2. Open the side ventilators.
3. Set the air intake control to "Fresh", the air flow control to "Floor" or "Face", and the fan to one of the higher speeds.

To ensure the ventilation system operates properly, make sure the air intakes located directly in front of the windshield are free of snow, ice, leaves, or other obstructions.
