Seat Belt Care

~1min read

Seat belt systems must never be disassembled or modified. In addition, care should be taken to ensure that seat belts and belt hardware are not damaged by seat, door hinges, or other abuse.

Periodic Inspection

All seat belts should be inspected periodically for wear or damage. Any damaged parts must be replaced as soon as possible.

Keep Belts Clean and Dry

Seat belts must be kept clean and dry. If the belts become dirty, they can be cleaned with a mild soap solution and warm water. Bleach, dye, strong detergents, or abrasives should not be used because they may damage and weaken the webbing.

When to Replace Seat Belts

All seat belt assemblies or components in use must be replaced if the vehicle was involved in an accident. This should be done even if no damage is visible. Additional questions regarding the operation of seat belts should be directed to an authorized Kia dealer.

WARNING! Seat Belt Pinching

Make sure the straps and/or buckle are not caught or pinched behind the seat when returning the rear seatback to the upright position. Caught or pinched straps/buckles may become damaged and may fail during a collision or sudden stop.

WARNING

Seat belts can become hot in a vehicle that has been closed in sunny weather. They could burn passengers, including infants and children.
