Fuel Requirements
The Kia Opirus must be operated exclusively on unleaded gasoline with a RON of 91 or higher. Using leaded fuel or additives such as methanol can damage the catalytic converter and void the manufacturer's warranty. Particularly important: fuel with more than 10% ethanol or methanol blended in, which is available in some regions, is not permitted. This section strongly warns against consequential damage to the engine and fuel system caused by unsuitable fuels.
Gasoline Engine (Unleaded)
Your KIA vehicle is equipped with catalytic converters and must therefore be operated exclusively on unleaded gasoline. The fuel quality must be at least 91 RON (or higher). According to DIN EN 228, 91 RON corresponds to the fuel grade "regular gasoline".
Using fuel with a RON lower than 91 can cause engine damage at high engine speeds and under heavy engine load.
NOTE
NEVER FILL UP WITH LEADED GASOLINE. Leaded gasoline damages the catalytic converters, impairs the electronic engine control, and thereby disables the emission control system.
Never use fuel additives that have not been approved by KIA. For details, contact your authorized KIA dealer if necessary.
Gasoline with Alcohol or Methanol Additives
Various fuel types and fuel qualities that do not comply with DIN EN 228 are offered in different regions.
Never use fuel containing more than 10% ethanol. Also never use fuel containing methanol.
Both fuel types can adversely affect engine operation and damage the fuel system.
Damage to the vehicle as well as poor driving characteristics are not covered by the manufacturer's warranty if they are caused by the use of the following fuels: 1. Fuels containing more than 10% ethanol 2. Fuels containing methanol 3. Leaded fuels of any kind
The Kia Opirus 2003–2011 is designed to run on unleaded gasoline to protect the environment and the catalytic converter. Observing the fuel requirements is essential for engine performance and longevity.
Using unsuitable fuels can not only impair engine performance but also lead to costly damage. This keeps the Kia Opirus a reliable and efficient vehicle.
It is especially important to avoid fuels with excessive ethanol or methanol content in order not to endanger the fuel system and the engine.
