Driving Information

Before driving

~2min read

Before every drive in the Kia Opirus, thorough visual and functional checks should be carried out. This section contains a clear checklist for fluid levels, lighting functions, tire pressure, and visibility. It also addresses safe driving practices when under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The clearly worded warnings and practical tips make this section a valuable part of driving safety.

Before Entering the Vehicle

  • Make sure that all windows, outside mirrors, and exterior lights are free of dirt and obstructions.
  • Make sure that the tires are in proper condition.
  • Check that there are no signs of leaked fluids under the vehicle.
  • Watch for obstacles behind the vehicle when you intend to reverse.

Necessary Checks

Regularly check the engine oil, engine coolant, and brake fluid levels, as well as the washer fluid level, and observe the replacement intervals for some fluids. Detailed information can be found in Chapter 7 (Maintenance).

To drive the vehicle safely, you must first become familiar with the vehicle's equipment and all controls.

WARNING - Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs

Driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol is extremely dangerous. Drivers who have been drinking cause a very large number of fatal accidents. Even small amounts of alcohol reduce reflexes and the ability to recognize and assess situations.

Driving under the influence of alcohol significantly increases the risk of causing a serious accident.

Do not drive a vehicle if you have consumed alcohol or drugs. Do not allow anyone who has consumed alcohol or drugs to drive. Ride only with a trusted person, or take a taxi instead.

Driving under the influence of drugs is at least as dangerous as, if not more dangerous than, driving under the influence of alcohol.

The Kia Opirus 2003–2011 provides a high level of safety when all necessary checks are carried out before driving. From the visual inspection to the functional check of the lights, every measure contributes to a safe journey.

It is especially important to watch for obstacles around the vehicle and to check fluid levels regularly. This keeps the Kia Opirus a reliable and safe vehicle in everyday use.

Observing these instructions also supports the long-term value of the vehicle and reduces the risk of technical problems.
