Seat Belt Care
Seat belt systems should never be disassembled or modified. In addition, care should be taken to ensure that seat belts and belt hardware are not damaged by seat hinges, doors or other mechanisms.
WARNING
- When returning the rear seatback to the upright position after it has been folded down, be careful not to damage the seat belt webbing or buckles. Make sure the webbing or buckle is not caught or pinched in the rear seat. A seat belt with damaged webbing or buckle may not be as strong and may fail in a collision or sudden stop, resulting in serious injury. If the webbing or buckles are damaged, replace them immediately.
- Seat belts may become hot in a vehicle that has been closed in sunny weather. They could burn infants and children.
Periodic Inspection
It is recommended that all seat belts be periodically inspected for wear or damage of any kind. Any damaged parts should be replaced as soon as possible.
Keep Belts Clean and Dry
Seat belts should be kept clean and dry. If the belts become soiled, they can be cleaned with a mild soap solution and warm water. Bleach, dye, strong detergents or abrasives must not be used, because they can damage and weaken the webbing.
When to Replace Seat Belts
Any seat belt assembly or components in use during a vehicle accident should be replaced, even if no damage is visible. We recommend consulting an authorized Kia dealer.
