WARNING - ENGINE EXHAUST CAN BE DANGEROUS!
Engine exhaust can be extremely dangerous. If you ever smell exhaust fumes inside the vehicle, open the windows immediately.
- Do not breathe exhaust gas.
Exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas that can cause unconsciousness and death by asphyxiation. - Make sure the exhaust system does not leak.
The exhaust system should be inspected whenever the vehicle is raised for oil changes or for any other purpose. If you hear a change in exhaust sound or if you drive over something that strikes the underside of the vehicle, we recommend having the system checked by an authorized Kia dealer. - Do not run the engine in an enclosed area.
Leaving the engine running in a garage, even with the garage door open, is a dangerous practice. Never run the engine in a garage longer than necessary to start the engine and move the vehicle outside. - Avoid prolonged engine idling when people are inside the vehicle.
If it is necessary to idle the engine for a long time with people inside the vehicle, always do so in an open area with the air intake set to 'Fresh' and the blower running at one of the higher speeds so that fresh air is drawn into the cabin.
If you must drive with the rear door/tailgate open because you are carrying items that make this necessary:
1. Close all windows.
2. Open the side vents.
3. Set the air intake control to "Fresh", the air flow control to "Floor" or "Face", and the blower to one of the highest speeds.
To ensure proper operation of the ventilation system, make sure the ventilation air intakes located directly in front of the windshield are kept clear of snow, ice, leaves, or other obstructions.
