Using a Child Restraint System

Rear-Facing Child Restraint System

Forward-facing child restraint

Infants and small children require the use of a child safety seat or infant seat. The child seat or infant seat must be the correct size for the child and must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

For safety reasons, we recommend using a child restraint system on the rear seats.

Under normal conditions, all passenger seat belts retract freely and lock only in extreme or emergency conditions (emergency locking mode). To secure the child restraint, the seat belt retractor must be manually switched to automatic locking mode.

If the seat belt does not operate as described in this section, have it inspected immediately by an authorized Kia dealer.

WARNING - Unattended Children

Never leave children unattended in the vehicle. The vehicle interior can become extremely hot quickly, which may result in serious injury or even death to a child left in the vehicle.

WARNING - Installing the Child Restraint

  • Always follow the instructions of the child restraint system manufacturer. Child restraint manufacturers know their products best.
  • Failure to follow the instructions in this manual and those supplied with the child restraint system may result in improper installation of the child restraint system, which may reduce your child's protection in a crash or sudden stop.

✽ NOTICE

If the vehicle head restraint interferes with proper installation of the child seat (as described in the child seat system manual), the head restraint of the corresponding seating position must be adjusted or removed completely.
