Keys

~2min read

Do not leave the key in the vehicle if children are present. Keep keys in a place where children cannot find them and cannot play with them:

Leaving children in the vehicle with the key is dangerous.

This could result in serious injury or death. Children may regard the key as an interesting toy and may operate the power windows and other controls, or even set the vehicle in motion.

WARNING

Because the key (remote transmitter) uses low-power radio waves, it may not operate properly under the following conditions:

  • The key is carried together with telecommunication devices such as a cellular phone.
  • The key is in contact with or covered by a metal object.
  • The key is near electronic devices, such as a personal computer.
  • Electronic equipment other than genuine Mazda equipment is installed in the vehicle.
  • Equipment located near the vehicle is emitting radio waves.

The key (remote transmitter) may consume excessive battery power when it receives strong radio waves.

Keep the key away from electrical devices such as televisions or personal computers.

To avoid damaging the key (remote transmitter), DO NOT:

  • Drop the key.
  • Get the key wet.
  • Disassemble the key.
  • Expose the key to high temperatures, such as in direct sunlight on the instrument panel or the hood.
  • Expose the key to magnetic fields.
  • Place heavy objects on the key.
  • Clean the key in an ultrasonic cleaner.
  • Place magnetized objects near the key.

A code number is stamped on the plate attached to the key set. Detach this plate and store it in a safe place (but not in the vehicle). This number will be required if one of the keys (spare key) must be replaced.

Also write down the code number and keep it in a separate, secure and convenient place, but not in the vehicle.

If a key (spare key) is lost, contact an authorized Mazda dealer and make sure you have the key code with you.

NOTE

The driver must have the key to ensure the system operates properly.
