Remote Keyless Entry System

WARNING

Radio waves emitted by the key may interfere with the operation of medical electronic devices, such as cardiac pacemakers:

Before using the key near persons using medical electronic devices, consult your doctor or the device manufacturer to determine whether the radio waves emitted by the key may affect their operation.

The advanced remote function allows you to lock/unlock the doors and luggage compartment lid, or open the luggage compartment lid while carrying the key, without using the key.

System malfunctions or operations are indicated by the following warnings.

• Control switch unusable buzzer. Refer to Control Switch Unusable Buzzer (With Advanced Remote Function) on page 7-41.
• Key left in luggage compartment buzzer. Refer to Key Left in Luggage Compartment Buzzer (With Advanced Remote Function) on page 7-42.
• Key left in vehicle buzzer. Refer to Key Left in Vehicle Buzzer (With Advanced Remote Function) on page 7-42.

NOTE

The keyless entry system functions can be deactivated to prevent any possible adverse effects on a user wearing a cardiac pacemaker or other medical device. If the system is deactivated, it will not be possible to start the engine with the key. Contact an authorized Mazda dealer for details. If the keyless entry system has been deactivated, the engine can be started by following the procedure described when the key battery is dead.

Operating range

The system only works when the driver is inside the vehicle or within the operating range and carries the key.

NOTE

When the battery is discharged or in areas subject to strong radio waves or interference, the operating range may be reduced or the system may not function.
