Adaptive Highbeam Assist

~2min read
WARNING

The Adaptive Highbeam Assist is only a driver assistance system. You remain responsible for the vehicle's lighting and for adapting it to lighting, visibility and traffic conditions.

The system may be impaired or may not function.

  • when visibility is poor (for example in snowfall, rain, fog or sea spray)
  • if the windshield at the optical sensor is dirty, fogged or obstructed (for example by a sticker)

The system cannot detect the following road users:

  • road users without their own lighting, such as pedestrians
  • road users with weak lighting, such as cyclists
  • road users whose lighting is obscured, such as vehicles driving behind a guardrail
  • in rare cases: road users with their own lighting may not be detected, or may be detected too late

The high beams then do not switch off (or switch on) automatically despite the presence of road users ahead of you or approaching in the opposite direction.

This may expose you to danger or endanger other people and cause an accident. Always pay attention to traffic conditions and, if necessary, switch back to the low beams yourself in time.

This function allows automatic switching between low beams and high beams. The system detects the lights of vehicles approaching from the opposite direction or driving ahead of you and switches from high beams to low beams.

The system automatically adjusts the range of the low beams depending on the distance to other vehicles.

When the system no longer detects any other vehicles, it switches back to high beams.

The optical sensor of the system is located behind the windshield, at the interior rearview mirror control unit.

  • Activation: activate the function
