Important safety notes
The risk of an accident increases significantly when you drive too fast. This is particularly the case in bends and on wet or slippery roads, or when you drive too closely behind the vehicle in front.
The active safety systems described in this section cannot reduce this risk or override the laws of physics.
Therefore, always adapt your driving style to the current road and weather conditions.
Maintain a sufficient safety distance from other road users or objects that may be on the road.
Active safety systems cannot reduce the risk of an accident resulting from improper driving, nor can they override the laws of physics. Active safety systems are driver assistance systems only. You are responsible for maintaining a safe distance, for the vehicle speed and for deciding whether to brake. Always adapt your driving style to the current road, weather and traffic conditions. Maintain a sufficient safety distance. Drive with full attention.
Note that the maximum effectiveness of the safety systems described can only be achieved with optimal contact between the tires and the road surface. Pay particular attention to the notes on tires, the minimum recommended tread depth, etc. in the chapter 'Wheels and tires'.When driving in winter conditions, fit winter tires (M+S) and, if necessary, snow chains. This is the only way to benefit from the maximum effectiveness of the active safety systems described in this section.
