- the engine is not running
- the braking system has failed
- the power supply or on-board electrical system has failed
Power steering and power brakes do not work when the engine is off. You must then apply more force to steer and brake the vehicle. If necessary, press the brake pedal fully.
Before towing, make sure you can steer the vehicle and that the steering is not locked.
Before towing another vehicle, make sure its weight does not exceed the gross vehicle weight rating of your vehicle.

If in doubt, have the vehicle recovered using a crane. When towing the vehicle or starting the engine by towing, drive slowly and smoothly.Otherwise, excessive traction force can damage the vehicles.
Vehicles with automatic transmission must not be started by towing. Otherwise, the transmission could be damaged. To tow the vehicle or start the engine by towing, observe the legal regulations in force in each country.
It is preferable to have your vehicle transported rather than towed.
