WARNING
Power steering and power brake assistance do not work when the engine is switched off. You must then apply much greater force to brake and steer the vehicle. Adapt your driving style accordingly.
When towing a vehicle with the hazard warning lights switched on, use the turn signal lever as usual to indicate changes of direction. In this case, only the turn signal indicating the desired direction flashes. Once the turn signal lever has returned to its initial position, the hazard warning lights start flashing again.Vehicles with an automatic transmission: the automatic transmission automatically shifts to P if you open the driver's or front passenger's door or remove the key from the ignition switch. To keep the automatic transmission in N during towing, you must perform the following steps:
- Make sure the vehicle is stationary.
- Turn the key to position 2 in the ignition switch.
- Press and hold the brake pedal.
- Shift the automatic transmission into N.
Vehicles with a manual transmission:
- Turn the key to position 2 in the ignition switch.
- Press and hold the brake pedal.
- Shift the transmission into neutral.
Vehicles with a manual transmission or an automatic transmission:
- Leave the key in position 2 in the ignition switch.
- Release the brake pedal.
- Release the electric parking brake.
- Switch on the hazard warning lights.
