Cup holder

~4min read

The cupholders in the Mercedes E-Class (4th generation, W212, 2009–2016) provide space for drinks and make everyday use easier. This section explains safe use, cleaning, and the risks that can arise from unsecured containers while driving. Tips on proper handling provide additional safety.

Important Safety Notes

Vehicles with manual transmission or AMG vehicles:

WARNING

The cupholder cannot secure a container while driving. If you use a cupholder while driving, the container may slide around and liquids may spill. Vehicle occupants may come into contact with the liquid and may be scalded, especially by hot liquid. You may be distracted from traffic and lose control of the vehicle. There is a risk of accident and injury!

Use the cupholder only when the vehicle is stationary. Insert only suitable containers into the cupholder. Close the container, especially when it contains hot liquid.

NOTE

Only insert suitable containers with lids into the cupholder. Otherwise, drinks could slosh over.

WARNING

If you stow items in the vehicle interior improperly, they may slide or be thrown around and strike vehicle occupants. There is a risk of injury, especially during braking maneuvers or sudden changes of direction!
  • Always stow items so that they cannot be thrown around in these or similar situations.
  • Always make sure that items do not protrude from storage compartments, cargo nets or stowage nets.
  • Keep lockable storage compartments closed while driving.
  • Always stow and secure heavy, hard, pointed, sharp-edged, fragile or oversized items in the trunk/cargo area.
Note

Do not expose drink bottles in the center console cupholder to long-lasting, intense and direct sunlight. Otherwise, the concentration and reflection of the sunlight may damage the vehicle interior in the area of the center console.

Observe the loading guidelines.
