Electrical fuses
The electrical fuses in the Mercedes E-Class (4th gen, W212, 2009–2016) protect important vehicle functions from damage caused by electrical circuits. This section provides detailed safety and handling information for correctly replacing fuses and explains the locations of the fuse boxes in the vehicle.
Important Safety Notes
WARNINGIf you tamper with a defective fuse, bridge it, or replace it with a fuse of higher amperage, the electrical wiring may become overloaded. This can cause a fire. There is a risk of accident and injury!
Always replace defective fuses with specified new fuses with the correct amperage.NOTE
Use only fuses approved by Mercedes-Benz with the specified fuse rating for the relevant system. Otherwise, parts or systems may be damaged.
The electrical fuses in your vehicle are designed to switch off defective circuits. A blown fuse causes the downstream components and the functions connected to them to fail.
Blown fuses must be replaced with equivalent fuses, identifiable by their color and fuse rating. Refer to the fuse assignment chart for the fuse ratings. If a newly installed fuse blows again, have the cause determined and corrected by a qualified specialist workshop.
