Preliminary information
CONDITIONS FOR APPLYING THE CHECKS DEFINED IN THIS DIAGNOSIS
The checks defined in this diagnosis should only be applied on the vehicle if the fault title being dealt with exactly matches the display shown on the XR25 tool.
If a fault is being dealt with for a flashing bar graph, the conditions for confirming the actual presence of the fault (and the need to apply the diagnosis) are given in the "Warnings" box or at the start of the bar graph interpretation.
If a bar graph is only interpreted when it is steady on, applying the checks recommended in the diagnosis when the bar graph is flashing will not locate the origin of the fault being stored. In this case, only a check of the wiring and connectors of the component concerned should be carried out (the fault is simply stored because it was not present at the time of the check).
NOTE: The ignition must have been switched off before using the XR25 tester.
ESSENTIAL TOOLS FOR WORK ON THE ABS SYSTEM
XR25 tester.
XR25 cartridge No. 16 minimum.
Reminders: When an intermittent fault is stored, the ABS warning light will come on the next time the vehicle is used until its speed reaches 12 km/h. When the fault is stored, a counter associated with the fault is set to 40. This value is reduced by 1 after each ignition switch-on if the fault is not present when the vehicle speed passes 12 km/h.
When the counter value equals 1, it stays at 1 and the fault is not erased.
