Tightening torques
clutch mechanism mounting bolts (K4J and K4M engines)	2 daN.m
clutch mechanism mounting bolts (K9K engine)	1.5 daN.m

REMOVAL

• Remove the gearbox (Chapter Manual Gearbox, Manual Gearbox: Removal - Refitting, page 21A-11).

• Fit tool (Mot. 582-01) (1).
• Remove the clutch mechanism mounting bolts.
• Remove the friction disc.
• Replace any defective parts.

INSTALLATION

WARNING

Clean the clutch shaft splines and refit the assembly without lubricant.

• Fit the clutch disc.
• Centre the clutch disc using tool (Emb. 1518) (2).
• Tighten progressively in a star pattern.

K4J or K4M

• Tighten the clutch mechanism mounting bolts (K4J and K4M engines) to torque (2 daN.m).

K9K

• Tighten the clutch mechanism mounting bolts (K9K engine) to torque (1.5 daN.m).
• Remove tool (Mot. 582-01).

F4R or F9Q

Tightening torques
mechanism mounting screws	1.2 daN.m

REMOVAL

• Remove the gearbox (Chapter Manual Gearbox, Manual Gearbox: Removal - Refitting, page 21A-11).

• Fit tool (Mot. 1677) (1).
• Remove the clutch mechanism mounting bolts.
• Remove the friction disc.
• Replace any defective parts.

INSTALLATION

EMB. 1604

Note: For self-adjusting clutch mechanisms, compress the clutch mechanism using tool (Emb. 1604).

• Clamp the base of tool (Emb. 1604) in a vice.

• Place the clutch mechanism on the base, then the thrust bearing (1) and the nut (2).

• Tighten nut (2) until it locks.

• Fit circlip pliers at (3).

• Compress the springs (4).
• Loosen nut (2) completely (springs compressed).
• Release the mechanism.

• Remove the clutch mechanism from the base (checking that the springs remain compressed).

WARNING

Clean the clutch shaft splines and refit the assembly without lubricant.

Degrease the flywheel friction face.

• Fit the disc (small diameter of hub (5) facing the flywheel).

CENTRING

• Use the plastic centring tool found in the clutch tool set (Emb. 1518).
• Refit the clutch mechanism to the flywheel.
• Progressively tighten the clutch mechanism mounting bolts (1.2 daN.m).
