- Park the vehicle on a level, firm surface.
- Apply the parking brake firmly and select position "P" (Park) in an automatic transmission or "R" (Reverse) in a manual transmission. Place wheel chocks in front of and behind the wheel diagonally opposite the one being lifted.
- Turn on the hazard warning lights if there is traffic nearby.
- Position the jack vertically and raise it by turning the handle clockwise until the notch in the jack head engages the flange on the side member.

- Raise the vehicle slowly and smoothly until the tyre lifts off the ground. Do not raise the vehicle any higher than necessary.

WARNING
- Use the jack only for changing wheels.
- Never lift the vehicle on a slope.
- Never lift the vehicle with the jack placed anywhere other than under the flange on the body side member near the wheel being changed.
- Make sure the jack is raised at least 5 cm before it contacts the flange on the side member. Using the jack when it is extended less than 5 cm from its fully collapsed position may cause it to fail.
- Never get under a vehicle supported only by a jack.
- Do not start the engine with the vehicle raised, and never allow passengers to remain in it.
