Never attempt to start the vehicle from another power source if the battery appears to be frozen. Batteries in this condition may explode or crack during a starting attempt.
When connecting jump leads from an external source, keep your hands and the leads away from the drive belts, pulleys and fans.
Batteries produce flammable hydrogen gas. Keep flames and sparks away from the battery, as this may cause an explosion. Never smoke when working near the battery.
If the battery supplying power for starting is installed in another vehicle, make sure the vehicles do not touch.
If the battery keeps discharging without a clear reason, have the vehicle checked at a SUZUKI service station.
To avoid injury to yourself, damage to the vehicle or damage to the battery, carefully follow the jump-starting steps described below, in the correct order. If in doubt, contact professional roadside assistance.
NOTICE This vehicle should not be started by pushing or towing. This starting method may cause permanent damage to the catalytic converter. Vehicles with a weak or discharged battery must be started using an external power source.
When starting the engine from an external power source, follow this procedure:
Use only 12 V batteries to start this vehicle. Place a good 12 V battery close enough to the vehicle so that the jumper cables reach both batteries. If a battery in another vehicle is used, the vehicles MUST NOT TOUCH. Firmly apply the parking brake in both vehicles.
Switch off all electrical equipment, except equipment needed for safety (e.g. low beam or hazard lights).
Connect the cables as follows:
one end of the first cable to the positive (+) terminal of the discharged battery.
the other end of the same cable to the positive (+) terminal of the booster battery.
one end of the second cable to the negative (-) terminal of the booster battery.
the final connection to an unpainted, large metal part of the engine of the vehicle with the discharged battery.
WARNING Never connect the jump lead directly to the negative terminal of a discharged battery, as this may cause an explosion.
If the booster battery is installed in another vehicle, start its engine and keep it running at a moderate speed.
Start the engine of the vehicle with the discharged battery.
Remove the cables in the exact reverse order of connection.
