WARNING Take the greatest care when working on the vehicle to prevent accidents. The following tips must be strictly observed:
- Do not leave the engine running in garages or other enclosed spaces.
- When the engine is running, keep hands, clothing, tools, etc. away from the fan and drive belt. Even if the fan is not running, it may start automatically without warning.
- If work must be carried out with the engine running, make sure the parking brake is fully applied and the gearshift is in neutral (manual) or "PARK" (automatic).
- Do not touch ignition leads or other ignition system components while starting or running the engine, as this may cause an electric shock.
- Be careful not to touch hot exhaust system components such as the manifold, pipes and silencers.
- Keep sparks and flames away from the battery. Flammable gases are present.
- Do not get under the vehicle if it is supported only by the portable jack supplied with the vehicle.
- Take care not to accidentally short the battery terminals.
- Keep used oil, coolant and other fluids away from children and pets. Dispose of used fluids properly; never pour them on the ground, into drains, etc.
