Fuel recommendations

If your vehicle is not equipped with a restrictor in the fuel filler neck, you may use leaded or unleaded gasoline with a Research Octane Number (RON) of 85 or higher. Unleaded gasoline is recommended.

If your vehicle is equipped with a restrictor in the fuel filler neck, you must use unleaded gasoline with a Research Octane Number (RON) of 91 or higher. Such vehicles have labels near the fuel filler opening reading "UNLEADED FUEL ONLY", "NUR BLEIFREIEN KRAFTSTOFF" or "ENDAST BLYFRIBENSIN" (i.e., "UNLEADED FUEL ONLY").

If your vehicle requires high-octane fuel, use gasoline with a RON higher than 95. A warning label stating that gasoline with an octane rating above 95 RON must be used is located on the inside of the fuel filler cap cover.

RECOMMENDATION Using gasoline with an octane rating below 95 RON in a vehicle equipped with a WARNING LABEL requiring high-octane fuel may result in reduced performance and engine damage.

Gasoline-ethanol blends

Blends of unleaded gasoline and ethanol (ethyl alcohol), also known as "gasohol", are sometimes available commercially. These blends may be used in this vehicle if they contain no more than 10% ethanol.

Make sure the gasoline-ethanol blend has an octane rating no lower than that required for gasoline.

Gasoline-methanol blends

Blends of unleaded gasoline and methanol (wood alcohol) are available commercially in some countries. DO NOT USE fuels containing more than 5% methyl alcohol under any circumstances. SUZUKI is not responsible for damage to the fuel system or loss of vehicle performance resulting from the use of such fuels, and such damage is not covered by the warranty.

Fuels containing 5% or less methanol may be suitable for this vehicle, provided they contain cosolvents and corrosion inhibitors.

NOTE: If you are not satisfied with the performance or fuel economy of a vehicle using an alcohol-gasoline blend, you should return to unleaded gasoline that does not contain alcohol.

RECOMMENDATION Be careful not to spill alcohol-containing fuel when refueling. Fuel containing alcohol may damage the paint, which is not covered by the warranty. RECOMMENDATION The fuel tank has an air space that allows the fuel to expand at high temperatures. If you continue to add fuel after the pump has automatically shut off or "clicked off", the air space will fill. Fuel expansion caused by high ambient temperatures in a tank filled this way will cause leakage. To prevent fuel leakage, stop refueling when the pump shuts off automatically or "clicks off", including at pumps without this feature.
