LDA (Lane Departure Alert)
Function Summary
When driving on a road marked with lane lines, this system recognizes the lanes using a camera equipped with a sensor, which alerts the driver when the vehicle drifts out of its lane.
If the system determines that the vehicle has departed from its lane, it alerts the driver with a buzzer and indications on the meter.
Front sensor

Activating the LDA System
Press the LDA switch to turn the system on.
The LDA indicator light comes on.
Press the switch again to turn the LDA system off.
The LDA system remains on or off even when the engine switch is turned off.

Operating conditions
- When the vehicle speed is approximately 50 km/h or higher
- When the lane width is greater than approximately 3 m
- When driving on a straight road or when going through a curve with a radius greater than approximately 150 m
Meter Indications

When both lane line indicators turn green: Indicates that both the right and left lane lines have been recognized.
If the vehicle drifts out of the lane, the lane line indicator on the side of the departure will flash yellow.

When both lane line indicators turn green: Indicates that the lane line on the side marked in green has been recognized.
If the vehicle drifts toward a side of a lane with a recognized center line, the lane line indicators will flash yellow.

When both lane line indicators turn off: Indicates that the system does not recognize the lane lines or that the LDA system is temporarily canceled.
■ Temporary deactivation of LDA system functions
If one of the following conditions occurs, the LDA system functions will be temporarily deactivated. The functions will be reactivated once the required operating conditions are restored.
- The turn signal lever is operated.
- The vehicle speed is outside the operating range of the LDA system functions.
- The lane lines cannot be detected while driving.
- When the lane departure alert is operated.
■ Lane Departure Alert Depending on the volume level set on the audio system or the noise from the air conditioning fan while the audio system or air conditioning is in use, it may be difficult to hear the warning sound.
■ After the vehicle has been parked in the sun The LDA system may not be available immediately. When the cabin temperature drops and the temperature around the front sensor reaches a level suitable for system operation, the functions will become operational again.
■ When lane lines are present on only one side of the vehicle The lane departure alert will not function on the side where lane lines cannot be recognized.
■ Conditions in which operation may not be performed correctly In the following situations, the front sensor may be unable to recognize the lane lines, resulting in incorrect operation of the lane departure alert function. If this occurs, it is not a malfunction.
- When driving through areas such as toll booths, pedestrian crossings, or before a ticket gate
- When going through a sharp curve
- When the lane lines are too narrow or too wide
- When the vehicle is tilted to one side due to an unusually heavy load or incorrect tire inflation pressure
- When the distance between your vehicle and the one ahead is insufficient
- With yellow lane lines (these may be more difficult to recognize than white lines.)
- When the lane lines are worn or there are raised road markers or curbs
- When the lane lines run over a curb, etc.
- When the lane lines are covered, fully or partially, by sand, dirt, etc.
- When there are dark marks on the road surface parallel to the lane lines or where they overlap the lane lines
- When the road surface is particularly bright, such as concrete surfaces
- When the road surface is bright due to reflected light
- When driving in an area with sudden changes in brightness, such as entering or exiting a tunnel
- When the sun or the headlights of oncoming vehicles shine directly into the camera lens
- When driving on roads with exit or entry lanes
- When driving on wet roads due to current or recent rain, standing water, etc.
- When the vehicle is driven over rough sections, such as unpaved roads or road joints
- When headlight brightness at night is reduced due to dirt on the lenses or when the headlights are not properly aimed
- When driving on winding or uneven roads
- When driving on roads with rough or unpaved surfaces
- If the windshield is dirty or has rain, condensation or ice adhering to it
- When the heater airflow is directed toward the feet, the upper part of the windshield may fog up and have a negative effect
- When cleaning the inside of the windshield, if the camera lens is touched or comes into contact with glass cleaner, it may have a negative effect
■ When replacing tires Depending on the tires used, it may not be possible to maintain sufficient performance.
■ If the LDA indicator turns yellow This may indicate a malfunction in the system. Contact any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or other suitably qualified and equipped professional.
WARNING
■ Before using the LDA system Do not rely solely on the LDA system. The LDA system does not steer the vehicle automatically, nor does it reduce the level of attention the driver must maintain. The driver is responsible for maintaining full visual contact at all times to be aware of the road and surrounding area, and for turning the steering wheel to correct the course and drive safely.
Careless or improper driving may cause an accident.
■ To prevent accidental activation of the LDA system Turn off the LDA system using the switch when it is not in use.
■ Situations unsuitable for using the LDA system Do not use the LDA system in the following situations.
Otherwise, the system may not operate properly and accidents may occur.
- When driving with snow chains, a spare tire, or similar equipment installed
- When objects or structures along the road edge may be mistakenly recognized as lane lines (for example, guardrails, curbs, reflective road signs, etc.)
- When driving on snowy roads
- When lane lines on the road are difficult to see due to rain, snow, fog, sand, dirt, etc.
- When there are visible lines on the road surface from road work or remnants of previous lane markings
- When one of the lanes of the road is closed for maintenance or you are driving on a temporary lane
NOTE
■ To prevent damage to or malfunction of the LDA system
- Do not modify the headlights or apply stickers to the light surfaces.
- Do not modify the suspension. If the suspension requires repair, contact any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or other suitably qualified and equipped professional.
- Do not install or place any objects on the hood or grille. Also, do not install a grille guard (bull bar, kangaroo bar, etc.).
