Removal PROCEDURE 1. Remove differential (see subsection 6.6). 2. Clamp differential housing 15 (see figure Rear differential) in a vise. 3. Remove snap ring 9. 4. Unscrew bolts 1 and remove lock plate 2. 5. Remove thrust plate 3. 6. Remove freewheel gear assembly. 7. Remove washers 5. 8. Turn inner ring 7 of the freewheel gear clockwise and remove it. 9. Remove freewheel gear 6 from housing 4. Installation PROCEDURE Install the freewheel gear in reverse order of removal.

Install inner ring 7 of the freewheel gear by turning it clockwise. Install new snap ring 9.

Freewheel gear inspection PROCEDURE 1. Raise vehicle. 2. Turn rear wheels in the forward direction of travel. No resistance should be felt. 3. Turn rear wheels in the reverse direction. Front wheels should be driven through the transmission. 4. Start engine for 30 s to check freewheel gear locking. 5. Switch on ignition, select reverse gear and depress clutch pedal. 6. When turning rear wheels forward and backward, slight resistance should be felt. In both cases, front wheels should be driven.
