Rear Differential

PROCEDURE

Rear Differential 1 – bolt; 2 – locking plate; 3 – thrust plate; 4 – freewheel gear housing; 5 – washer; 6 – freewheel gear; 7 – freewheel gear inner race; 8 – satellite gear axle; 9 – spring; 10 – shaft; 11 – retaining ring; 12 – satellite gear; 13 – bevel gear; 14 – cage; 15 – differential case; 16 – bushing; 17 – plate; 18 – retaining ring; 19 – shaft

Removal PROCEDURE 1. Remove the viscous coupling (see subsection 6.5). 2. Disconnect the axle shafts from the axle shaft flanges and hang them on wire (see

subsection 7.2). 3. Unscrew the bolts securing the differential to the rear axle subframe. 4. Lower the differential by 20 cm and disconnect the hose from vacuum actuator 36. 5. Remove the differential. Installation Install in the reverse order of removal.

Disassembly PROCEDURE 1. Drain oil from final drive housing 33. 2. Unscrew bolts 37, turn vacuum actuator 90° and remove it. 3. Remove protective cap 18, snap ring 17 and washer 16 from the side of final drive housing 10. 4. Remove axle shaft flange 15. 5. Mark the relative position of nut 12 with the ring and differential housing 10. 6. Unscrew screws 19 and remove lock plate 11. 7. Unscrew nut 12 with ring. 8. Remove the opposite axle shaft flange. 9. Unscrew bolts 34. 10. Separate differential housing 10 from final drive housing 33. 11. Remove shaft 29 together with driven gear 26. 12. Remove differential. Installation Installation is performed in reverse order of removal.
