Throttle Cable Adjustment

Gasoline engine, except engine APY

CAUTION

Diesel vehicles and the AUDI S3 (engine APY) do not have an accelerator cable. The brake pedal position is transmitted to the control system by a sensor located on the pedal. The accelerator cable is very sensitive to kinking. Exercise particular care during installation. A slight kink may cause the cable to fail while driving. Do not install cables that show damage.

PROCEDURE

1. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and hold it in this position, or have an assistant do so.

2. Check whether the throttle lever rests against the full-throttle stop. If necessary, adjust the accelerator cable. ADJUSTMENT

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the clip (arrow in illustration).

2. Pull the cable out of the bearing so that the throttle lever rests against the full-throttle stop. In this position, insert the clip.

3. Additionally, for vehicles with AT: Release the accelerator pedal and slowly move it again toward full throttle. The kickdown switch must click clearly shortly before reaching the full-throttle stop.
