Operation

Adaptive Cornering Lights

~1min read

Operating Principle

The adaptive cornering light system flexibly controls the vehicle headlights, improving road illumination. The light beam emitted by the headlights follows the direction of travel depending on the steering wheel angle and other parameters.

On sharp bends (serpentine roads, when turning, etc.), one of the fog lights is additionally switched on (as a cornering light) provided the speed does not exceed 40 km/h. This allows better illumination of the inside of the bend.

Variable lighting illuminates the road better because it takes the driving speed into account.

Activating the system

With the ignition on, turn the light switch to position 3.

The cornering light switches on automatically depending on the steering wheel angle and the status of the turn signals.

To avoid dazzling drivers of oncoming vehicles when stopped, the cornering light is directed toward the front passenger side. When reversing, only the cornering light switches on. In this case, the outer side of the bend is illuminated.
