Switching Off the Engine

Do not remove the ignition key from the lock while the vehicle is moving, otherwise even a slight turn of the steering wheel will lock the steering column shaft lock.

When leaving the vehicle, remove the key from the ignition lock and lock the steering column shaft. When parking on roads with a steep grade, apply the parking brake.◄

Vehicles with manual transmission

1. Turn the ignition key to position 1 or 0.
2. Engage first gear or reverse gear.

Vehicles with SMG transmission

1. Select a drive position on the gearbox.
2. Turn the ignition key to position 1 or 0. If the selector lever is in position N when the engine is switched off, a signal sounds.

Vehicles with automatic transmission

1. Move the selector lever to position P.
2. Turn the ignition key to position 1 or 0.
