Changing tire and wheel size

~1min read

Different tire and wheel sizes

If tires of a size different from the factory-fitted tires are mounted on the wheels, it may be necessary to reprogram the electronic speedometer, change the standard tire pressures, and make several other modifications to the vehicle.

After fitting tires of a different size, also replace the tire pressure label with a new one showing the correct values.

Warning Fitting incorrect tires and wheels may cause an accident and may invalidate the vehicle type approval. Warning Do not use wheel and tire types and sizes other than those originally fitted to the vehicle. This may negatively affect safety and vehicle performance. It may lead to steering problems or vehicle rollover, and consequently to serious injury.

When replacing tires, make sure all four tires and wheels are of the same type and size, have the same tread pattern, come from the same manufacturer, and have the same load capacity. Using different tires may seriously affect handling, ground clearance, braking distance, vehicle height, and speedometer accuracy.
