Catalytic Converter
The catalytic converter reduces harmful substances in the exhaust gases.
Refueling with fuel that does not meet the specification listed on pages 128, 181 may damage the catalytic converter or other components of your vehicle.
Unburned fuel can overheat and damage the catalytic converter. Therefore, avoid excessively long engine idling, do not allow water to enter the fuel tank, and do not start the engine by pushing or towing the vehicle.
If there are engine misfires, unstable engine operation, reduced engine power, or other problems, contact a service station as soon as possible to have the fault corrected. In case of emergency, you may continue driving for a short time, but keep the engine speed and vehicle speed low.
