Diesel Particulate Filter

The diesel particulate filter system removes soot particles from the engine exhaust gas. The system has a self-cleaning function (filter regeneration), which runs automatically while driving. The filter is cleaned by burning off soot particles at high temperature. This process runs automatically under certain driving conditions and may take up to 25 minutes. Fuel consumption may be higher during this time.

Odor and smoke are a normal result of the self-cleaning process.

Under certain driving conditions, for example short trips, the system cannot clean itself automatically.

If the filter requires cleaning and previous driving conditions did not allow automatic cleaning, the indicator light will flash. Continue driving, keeping engine speed above 2000 rpm. If necessary, shift to a lower gear. The particulate filter cleaning procedure will then start.

Do not stop or switch off the engine during cleaning.

If the cleaning process is interrupted more than twice, there is a high risk of serious engine damage.

At high engine speeds and loads, cleaning time is reduced.

Displaythe system determines when the self-cleaning process ends.
