Depending on the size of the spare wheel compared with the other wheels fitted to the vehicle, and local regulations, it may be classified as a temporary spare wheel or a emergency spare (compact spare).

The spare wheel has a steel rim.

The spare wheel must be smaller than the other wheels; otherwise, in combination with winter tires, it may impair vehicle handling. Replace the faulty tire as soon as possible.

The spare wheel is stored in the luggage compartment under the floor mat.

It is secured in the well with a wing nut.

The spare wheel well is not designed to store tires of all sizes permitted for the vehicle. If a wider wheel than the well allows must be stored after replacement, the floor mat can be placed over the wheel protruding from the well.
