Engine Overheating
If the coolant temperature gauge indicates engine overheating or there are other signs of overheating:
1. Stop the vehicle.
2. Switch off the air conditioning system.
3. Let the engine idle for several minutes.
4. Check the operation of the engine cooling fan.
If steam appears, move a safe distance away from the vehicle and let the engine cool down. Steam can cause serious burns.
Never open the coolant reservoir cap until the pressure in the system has dropped! Otherwise you risk being burned, and the vehicle will lose coolant.
Operating with the air conditioning on when driving uphill or in severe road conditions may cause the engine to overheat.
If the fan does not rotate and steam appears:
1. Switch off the engine.
2. Leave the vehicle and move away from it without opening the hood.
3. Wait until the engine has cooled down.
4. After steam stops escaping from under the hood, carefully open the hood. Check the coolant level and top up if necessary.
5. Contact an authorized Chevrolet dealer as soon as possible.
If the fan is working and no steam appears:
1. Carefully open the hood.
2. Leave the engine running at idle until it has cooled down.
3. Check the coolant level.
If necessary, top up the coolant to the proper level.
If the fan is working but the engine temperature does not decrease:
1. Stop the engine.
2. Carefully open the hood.
3. Wait for the engine to cool down.
4. Check the coolant level.
If necessary, top up the coolant to the proper level.
If the coolant level is low, check for leaks in the following places:
1. Radiator.
2. Radiator hoses.
3. Radiator connections.
4. Heater hoses.
5. Heater connections.
6. Engine coolant water pump.
Top up the coolant as necessary.
If a leak or other fault is found, or if the coolant level continues to drop, contact an authorized Chevrolet dealer immediately. Do not operate the vehicle until the faults are corrected. Engine damage caused by overheating is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
Hot coolant and steam in the cooling system are under high pressure. Discharge of coolant or steam may cause serious injury.
• Do not remove the coolant reservoir or radiator cap while the engine is hot.
