Gear shift indicator

~1min read

The system helps reduce fuel consumption by recommending an upshift.

With an automated or automatic gearbox, the system is only active in manual mode.

Operation

Depending on driving style and vehicle equipment, the system may recommend a change of one or several gears.

The recommendation can be followed without engaging intermediate gears.

A gear change recommendation is not mandatory.

Road layout, road conditions and safety are the main factors in choosing a gear. The driver decides whether to follow the system's advice.

This function cannot be switched off.

Example:

  • Third gear is engaged.
  • The accelerator pedal is pressed.
  • The system may suggest engaging a higher gear.
Działanie

The information appears in the instrument panel as an arrow.

The system adjusts gear change recommendations according to driving conditions (downhill, load...) and driver actions (power demand, acceleration, braking...). The system never recommends:
  • engaging first gear,
  • engaging reverse gear,
  • downshifting.
On vehicles with a manual gearbox, the arrow may be accompanied by a number indicating the recommended gear.
