Hill start assist

~1min read

When starting on a slope, the system holds the vehicle stationary for a short time (about 2 seconds), long enough to move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal.

This function works only when:

  • the vehicle is fully stopped by keeping your foot on the brake pedal at all times;
  • the gradient of the road meets certain conditions;
  • the driver's door is closed.

The hill start assist function cannot be deactivated.

Do not leave the vehicle while the hill start assist system is temporarily holding the vehicle stationary. If you must leave the vehicle with the engine running, manually apply the parking brake and check that the parking brake warning lamp on the instrument panel is lit steadily.

When the vehicle is stopped on an uphill slope, it remains stationary for a short time after the brake pedal is released:

  • if automated mode (position A) or manual mode (position M) is selected on an automated gearbox.

When the vehicle is stopped on a downhill slope with reverse gear engaged, it remains stationary for a short time after the brake pedal is released.
