Integrated Key Fob Transmitter (FOBIK-Safe)

~1min read

To minimize the possibility of locking a Passive Entry fob inside the vehicle, the Passive Entry system is equipped with an automatic door unlock feature that will operate if the ignition switch is in the OFF position.

The following situations will cause a FOBIK-Safe search for a Passive Entry fob in the vehicle:

  • A lock request is made with a valid Passive Entry fob while a door is open.
  • A lock request is made with the Passive Entry door handle while a door is open.
  • A lock request is made with the door panel switch while a door is open.

If any of these situations occur, after all open doors are closed, a FOBIK-Safe search will be performed. If it detects a Passive Entry fob inside the vehicle, the vehicle will unlock and alert the customer.

NOTE:

The vehicle will unlock the doors only if a valid Passive Entry fob is detected inside the vehicle. The vehicle will not unlock the doors if any of the following conditions are true:

  • The doors are locked manually using the door lock knobs.
  • Three attempts to lock the doors with the door panel switch are made and then the doors are closed.
  • A valid Passive Entry fob is outside the vehicle within 5 ft. (1.5 m) of the Passive Entry door handle.
