Active Head Restraints — Front Seats
In this manual: KNOW YOUR VEHICLE
~1min read
The front driver and passenger seats are equipped with Active Head Restraints (AHR). In the event of a rear impact, the AHR automatically moves forward to minimize the gap between the occupant's head and the AHR.
The AHR automatically returns to the normal position after a rear impact. If the AHR does not return to the normal position, contact an authorized dealer immediately.
To raise the head restraint, pull it upward. To lower the head restraint, press the adjustment button located at the base of the head restraint and push the head restraint down.

- An unsecured head restraint may be thrown forward in a collision or sudden stop and could result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants. Always store removed head restraints securely outside the passenger compartment.
- ALL head restraints MUST be reinstalled in the vehicle to properly protect occupants. Follow the reinstallation instructions above before driving the vehicle or occupying a seat.
- Do not place objects on top of an Active Head Restraint, such as coats, seat covers, or portable DVD players. These objects may interfere with the deployment of the Active Head Restraint in a collision and could result in serious injury or death.
